Subsidence Engineer

Location: Remote, UK Based

Salary: Up to £65k + Bonus / £7,500 Vehicle Allowance

The Role

We are seeking a technically strong Surveyor/Engineer (Subsidence) to provide expert input on subsidence and property‑related claims. The role involves carrying out site inspections, delivering technical assessments, and producing clear, structured reports that support liability, causation and settlement decisions.

You will work closely with clients, adjusters, contractors and technical specialists, maintaining a professional and customer‑focused approach throughout. This position suits someone who is confident working independently, able to manage a varied caseload, and committed to maintaining high technical and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle subsidence claims and provide technical support to Adjusters.
  • Conduct site investigations, prepare case management plans and assess causation.
  • Produce detailed technical reports covering policy analysis, liability, quantum and recommended actions.
  • Instruct and oversee specialists such as engineers, drainage experts or arborists.
  • Communicate with all parties, prepare interim updates and approve interim payments.
  • Agree settlements and contribute specialist input to final reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and stay updated on technical and legal developments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and escalate concerns where necessary.
  • Recommend and review repair solutions including underpinning, drainage works, vegetation management and mitigation schemes.
  • Provide expert advice on causation disputes, litigation support, recoveries and repudiation decisions.
  • Support business transition projects when required.

  • Experience working to targets and managing a field‑based workload.
  • Willingness to travel regularly across the UK.

Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified Civil or Structural Engineer (Chartered or working towards chartership).
  • Relevant experience in civil/structural engineering, subsidence investigation or technical claims environments.
  • ACII or ACILA qualifications are advantageous.
