Collections Agent – Debt Recovery
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Up to £26,000 DOE + bonus (top performers earn £1,000+ monthly)
Hours: Monday – Friday, full time, 9am – 5pm
About the Company
Our client is a leading UK business specialising in debt recovery and collections services, supporting clients across multiple industries. Due to significant growth, they are looking for motivated and driven Collections Agents to join their expanding team.
The Role
As a Collections Agent, you will be at the heart of the business, managing a portfolio of customers in arrears. You’ll use your excellent communication skills to engage with customers, understand their circumstances, and agree affordable and sustainable repayment solutions.
Key responsibilities include:

Contacting customers to discuss outstanding balances in a professional and empathetic manner.

Conducting income and expenditure assessments to establish fair repayment plans.

Negotiating settlements and handling disputes where necessary.

Managing cases through the pre-legal and legal collection process, liaising with solicitors if required.

Ensuring compliance with FCA regulations and company policies at all times.
About You
We’re looking for individuals who have:

Experience in debt recovery, collections, arrears management, or financial services.

Strong negotiation and communication skills.

The ability to remain calm, professional, and empathetic when dealing with vulnerable customers.

A target-driven mindset with the ability to manage high volumes of cases effectively.
Backgrounds that work well include: Collections Agent, Debt Recovery Officer, Credit Controller, Recoveries Specialist, or Arrears Officer.
