Drainage Investigation Engineer
Location: Portsmouth & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £33,000 – £38,000 DOE
Hours: Monday to Friday

The Role
As a Drainage Investigation Engineer, you will be responsible for investigating drainage issues, identifying faults and recommending suitable repair solutions.
You will need to have excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, together with strong technical knowledge and the ability to communicate confidently with customers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out drainage investigations and identifying the cause of drainage problems.
- Using high-pressure water jetting equipment to clear below-ground blockages.
- Troubleshooting complex and problematic drainage systems.
- Carrying out detailed CCTV drainage surveys and producing accurate, professional reports.
- Grading defects in accordance with WRC Defect Grading and Guidelines.
- Carrying out drainage repairs, including patching and lining.
- Using CAT/Genny and sonar tracing equipment to identify buried services and trace, locate and map drainage systems.
- Reinstating a range of domestic surfaces, including paving slabs, block paving and other finishes.
- Clearly explaining the work being carried out to customers and providing a professional and reassuring service.
- Identifying appropriate repair solutions and making recommendations based on your findings.
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Experience & Skills Required
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience within the drainage industry.
- Experience using CCTV surveying equipment and producing detailed investigation reports.
- Knowledge of WRC Defect Grading and Guidelines.
- Experience carrying out drainage repairs, including patching and lining.
- Experience using high-pressure water jetting equipment.
- Experience using CAT/Genny and sonar tracing equipment.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- A good understanding of technology and modern drainage equipment.
- Experience carrying out surface reinstatement, including paving slabs and block paving.
- A full UK driving licence.
