Child Care Solicitor (2+ PQE)

Location: Northwest – Greater Manchester, Blackburn & Lancashire / Hybrid
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience and PQE
Hours: 35 hours per week

Due to continued growth across the Northwest, they are looking for an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their highly regarded team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a solicitor who is passionate about Child Care law and wants to make a real difference to clients’ lives. You will manage a rewarding and varied caseload of publicly funded matters, while working alongside experienced legal professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of publicly funded Child Care matters from instruction through to conclusion.
  • Advise and represent clients in care proceedings, adoption matters and Special Guardianship Order applications.
  • Provide clear, practical and compassionate legal advice to legally aided clients.
  • Undertake advocacy where appropriate and confidently represent clients at court hearings.
  • Prepare high-quality legal documents, court applications and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate, compliant and well-organised case files in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with clients, colleagues and external professionals.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Child Care department.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Qualified Solicitor status in England & Wales.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ PQE within Child Care or Family Law.
  • Experience managing your own caseload of publicly funded Child Care matters.
  • Strong advocacy skills and confidence representing clients in court.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and client care skills.
  • A compassionate and client-focused approach.
  • The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a supportive team.

Desirable

  • Children Law Accreditation.
  • Previous experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience working towards departmental performance targets.
