MPJ Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Technical Motor Claims Team Leader on behalf of an expanding claims organisation based in Chelmsford.

This role would suit an experienced technical motor claims professional who combines strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills and a passion for developing high-performing teams.

The Role

As Technical Motor Claims Team Leader, you will oversee a team responsible for handling complex motor claims while providing coaching, technical guidance and performance management support.

You will lead by example, ensuring claims are managed effectively, reserves are controlled appropriately and customer outcomes remain at the forefront of the claims process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of technical motor claims handlers.
  • Provide technical guidance on liability, indemnity, reserving and complex claim scenarios.
  • Monitor team performance against service, quality and financial objectives.
  • Conduct regular one-to-ones, coaching sessions and performance reviews.
  • Ensure claims are managed proactively and progressed efficiently to conclusion.
  • Support handlers with complex third-party and injury claims.
  • Drive claims discipline, best practice and continuous improvement across the team.
  • Maintain high standards of regulatory compliance and customer service.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development of team members.
  • Produce and analyse management information to identify trends and opportunities.

About You

  • Significant experience handling technical motor claims.
  • Strong understanding of liability investigation, reserving and indemnity management.
  • Experience dealing with third-party and injury-related claims.
  • Previous team leadership, mentoring or supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to motivate and develop people while maintaining performance standards.
  • Results-driven with a strong focus on quality and customer outcomes.
