Child Care Solicitor (3+ PQE)
Location: Leicester / Derby / Nottingham (East Midlands)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and PQE
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week

Due to continued growth, our client is looking to appoint an experienced Child Care Solicitor to join their expanding East Midlands team. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a varied caseload of publicly funded child care matters while working alongside an experienced, collaborative team that is committed to delivering outstanding client care.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of publicly funded child care matters.
- Provide expert legal advice and representation to parents, grandparents, other family members, interveners, and children, either directly or through their CAFCASS-appointed Children’s Guardian.
- Prepare cases for court, including drafting court bundles and instructing counsel where appropriate.
- Oversee Legal Aid applications and ensure compliance with CCMS procedures.
- Deliver a consistently high standard of client care and legal service.
- Support the continued growth of the department by building and maintaining professional relationships and generating new work.
- Assist with the training, mentoring and development of junior team members where appropriate.
To be successful, you’ll have:
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer with at least 2 years’ PQE in Child Care law (applications from more experienced candidates are also welcomed).
- Experience managing your own publicly funded child care caseload.
- A strong understanding of Legal Aid and CCMS processes.
- Excellent knowledge of child care law and best practice.
- Strong advocacy, communication and client care skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- A proactive approach to business development and relationship building.
- Experience supporting or mentoring junior colleagues would be advantageous but is not essential.
